This Privacy Policy explains what information the Journey mobile application (“Journey”, the “App”, “we”, “us”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Journey is published by Satyam Saluja, an individual developer (“the Developer”).
If you have questions, contact us at developer@journeyfocus.space.
1. Summary
Journey is an ambient audio app for focus, reading, sleep, and meditation. We collect the minimum needed to run the App, deliver notifications you opt into, and manage subscriptions.
- We do not run any analytics or advertising SDKs.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not access your location, contacts, camera, photos, microphone, health data, or calendar.
- Most of your data (session progress and preferences) never leaves your device.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
During an optional profile step (which you can skip), you may enter:
| Data | Required? | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Optional | Stored as a profile attribute in OneSignal |
| Email address | Optional | Stored in OneSignal (used to address messaging to you) |
| Age | Optional | Stored as a profile attribute in OneSignal |
| Goal (focus / sleep / calm / other) | Optional | Stored as a profile attribute in OneSignal |
If you skip this step or leave fields blank, none of this information is collected.
2.2 Information collected automatically
Push notifications (OneSignal). If you allow notifications, our push provider OneSignal collects and processes, by default: a push subscription identifier, your device push token, device model and operating system version, app language, time zone, IP address, and basic app-usage signals (such as when you open the App). We also set a non-identifying flag indicating whether you are currently in a session, so we can avoid interrupting you with messages mid-session.
Subscriptions (RevenueCat + Apple). If you purchase or restore Journey+, our subscription provider RevenueCat receives and stores a RevenueCat-assigned app user identifier, your purchase and transaction history, the validated purchase receipt, your subscription/entitlement status, and basic device and country information. Payment is processed by Apple through the App Store — we never receive or store your payment card details. We do not send your name or email to RevenueCat.
App updates (Expo). The App uses Expo’s over-the-air update service to deliver bug fixes. When the App checks for updates, Expo’s servers receive standard technical metadata such as the App version, update channel, platform, and a device identifier used to deliver the correct update.
2.3 Information stored only on your device
The following is saved locally on your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party: your session progress (total distance, sessions completed, current route point), onboarding completion, notification-prompt state, and rating-prompt state. This data is removed when you delete the App.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide and operate the App’s core features;
- Send push notifications and re-engagement reminders you have opted into;
- Process, validate, and restore subscription purchases, and determine your access to Journey+ features;
- Maintain, secure, debug, and improve the App; and
- Respond to your support requests.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling for marketing unrelated to the App, or sale to third parties.
4. Legal bases (for users in the EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Consent — for push notifications and any profile details you choose to provide. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 8).
- Performance of a contract — to process and manage subscriptions you buy.
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the App, balanced against your rights.
5. How information is shared
We share information only with the service providers that make the App work, each acting as our processor or as an independent controller for their own platform operations:
| Provider | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| OneSignal | Push notifications | onesignal.com/privacy_policy |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | revenuecat.com/privacy |
| Apple | App distribution & payment processing | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| Expo (EAS) | Over-the-air app updates | expo.dev/privacy |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a transfer of the App to another developer (in which case this Policy will continue to govern your information).
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. International data transfers
Our service providers (OneSignal, RevenueCat, Expo, Apple) may store and process data on servers located in the United States and other countries. Where required, these providers rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.
7. Data retention
- Profile attributes and messaging data are retained by OneSignal until you ask us to delete them or the underlying push subscription is removed.
- Subscription records are retained by RevenueCat/Apple as needed to manage your subscription and meet legal and accounting obligations.
- On-device data persists until you delete the App.
8. Your choices and rights
- Notifications. You can disable push notifications at any time in your device Settings. You can also decline the in-app prompt.
- Profile data. You can choose not to provide, or to leave blank, any profile field.
- Access, correction, deletion, and portability. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with you (such as your OneSignal profile and email), email developer@journeyfocus.space and we will act on your request as required by applicable law.
- EEA/UK and California residents have additional rights (including the right to object, restrict processing, lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, and, for California residents, the right to know and delete and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights). We honor verified requests submitted to the contact email above.
Deleting the App removes on-device data but does not by itself delete data held by OneSignal or RevenueCat — use the contact email to request that.
9. Children’s privacy
Journey is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We rely on reputable providers that use encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
